We use five different sandpaper grit sizes from coarse to fine to achieve a smooth edge.

We then use a burnishing agent to help in sealing the edge and reduce friction when using a wooden slicker.

We prefer using a handheld wooden slicker in order to control the heat caused by friction, so as not to burn the leather.

This results in naturally burnished edges on vegetable-tanned leather.
